Downtown Haven
|A pocket park, a small park accessible to the general public, frequently created on a single vacant building lot or on small, irregular pieces of land. Placed on urban area so it can be publicly accessible to those surrounding the green-area, the park will provide natural green life to a downtown inner-city area that has few to almost none park space. Although it will be too small for physical activities, the pocket park will provide greenery, a place to sit outdoors, and perhaps a safe haven distraction to those busy working bees. It may even be created around a monument, historic marker or art project such as the art district in downtown or the courthouses. A pocket park should gather the community and allow a place for peace and calm during a lunch break, when legs need to be stretched or even for thoughts to be gathered and cleared up. The park should work to serve those who go as best as it can with the multiple functions it will contain. It has been proven that a change of scenery from the office not only improves the work yet as well as clears the mentality of one so that when they return to work they are fresh and ready to go and that is how the park will contribute to the community.
