Summary

The following images and posts contain evaluations of the proposed site, the neighboring community, the history of pocket parks, and the qualities of a good public space. The current proposed site is a vast, undeveloped plot of land in a community that lacks a park. Therefore, the most effective way to make proper use of the space would be to develop a pocket park that encompasses all that a successful park requires such as shade, entertainment, recreation, and space. Pocket parks promote a healthy mind and body in children and adults alike. As Joseph Lee, President of the Playground Association said in 1916, "Play is not merely a good thing for the child; it is an essential part of the process of his growth . . . it is for the sake of play that infancy exists.” The majority of the information is taken from public databases such as the Las Vegas Geographic Information System, Google Maps, American Planning Association, City Data, and etc.
