Advanced Technologies New and Improved Gym Facility

Here is the current floor plan of our school’s gym. As one could tell there is nothing about the layout that truly stands out to the eye- which may or may not be a bad thing. The gym is as plain as it gets, and the floor plan itself isn't exactly terrible; but many improvements can be made in order to create a better environment for the physical education students. For example, one part of the gym that needs to be focused on is the locker rooms. As time went by the expectations of students attending A-TECH have more than doubled. The gym class sizes are too big for the locker rooms that are provided. Students have to share lockers with one, two, or maybe even three people just to store gym clothes. Locker rooms should be spacious and open so that every person in the room feels comfortable. Comfortability is a vital element every locker room should possess and that is something that needs to be stressed in this design. Another element of poor design that the A-TECH gym acquires is the orientation of the floor plan. For example students have complained ample amount of times about the “out of place” Health classroom (room 902). From personal experience I can tell you it’s an absolute pain to be in room 902 when your next class is upstairs. Being tardy to your English class is rather difficult when your teacher is very strict on punctuality. The school gym is unnecessarily far from the actual school itself. It becomes a hassle for students when they need to rush out of the tiny locker rooms and literally run as fast as they can to make it to class before the bell rings. The orientation of the two building need to co-exist instead of conflicting with each other.
