Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the world and in Las Vegas especially, skin cancer is a big part of our lives. In my pocket park the need for shade or prevention from sun exposure was one of my main priorities. I introduced big shady Red Maple trees that are a great providers of shade. Alongside the Shade benefit from the trees, the Red Maple provides great resistance to the Las Vegas Climate and offers a lovely yellow- reddish leaf color in the fall.
