So far, I don't see much of a green space for the kids that you are targeting. Maybe more green space could be better option than the playground? Your choice.

Good observations. Natural light is great and with careful handling the downsides can be managed. Clerestories are often good options for gyms - allowing for control with blinds and overhangs also minimizes heat gain.
