There are a lot of things stuffed into the small program area, but I think dividing the space so clearly into zones does help this. I also agree with the first comments, some context would really help highlight the design. Consider some solar panels, or signage or making use of the canopies for more than just shading.

Good job, including the different versions is very important. Focusing so closely on the circulation is a smart move.

Thank you TarHeels23. I cannot recall the number of hours invested into the pocket park's design, as well as the time spent organizing how I will reveal my developments. Any feedback is much appreciated, thank you TarHeels23!

Thank you Pumbaa. There are definitely plenty of people occupied within the business industry that live in the immediate neighborhood, including its share of elderly as researched in the Collect Info phase. There is also a familial abundance as well. It's design is built to serve everyone on the broad spectrum of potential visitors, including those who are handicapped.

Thank you timon. For sustainable design, native plants are imperative! The drought-like conditions that define Southern California only allow for an arbitrary palette of greenery that's drought tolerant. As for the rendering, all 3D-models were developed in Sketchup. No actual rendering extension was used, only the source engine's. Due to the minimal specs of my computer (such as the 2 gig RAM! ;__;), I knew my limits when it came to the final renderings. There's things such as bitmaps, lighting fixtures, and a plethora of other intricacies that can be manipulated in other programs, but I settled for Sketchup. I've made it a priority to purchase a new computer that's capable of undertaking the needs of programs such as blender, autoCAD, etc.

Thank you olivaresj1. I had the benefit of having my sister attend the school, "Antelope Hills", and thought it would be wise to question what theme they'd like to see integrated into the final design. I didn't want to create your standard, dull, cookie-cutter compilation of materials intended to entertain children, but instead design a site that would promote creative play. I received much inspiration from the unique individuals at TOXEL.

Thank you 1009680. I feel the slight busyness is compensated for by both the recreational zone and the stretch of field behind it, hence why I designed the seating the way I did. I aimed to make both the seating and play zone distinct from each other via design to better aid the visitor determine where to rest, and where to play. This serves the visitor's best interest by being aware of their safety.

Thank you Katerina219. Relating to the overall design, I actually did not install more nor remove seating (such as tables and benches) that was previously established, but instead largely rearranged them and provided shade. The reason as to exactly why I designed the park the way I have, is because of the constant transition between children entering the recreational zone and children entering the stretch of field behind it. The recreation zone's artistic inclination was definitely wrought by the hand of surreal design. The large structure was designed to attempt to entice children by providing an usual space that is non-existent at home. To determine whether I have achieved this is quite the challenging endeavor, so thank you for your input Katerina219!

Thank you, The Foundation. The concepts you mentioned first manifested as abstract phenomena developed when identifying flaws, materialized in the Develop Solutions phase, and solidified in the Final Design phase. I wanted to adopt a very methodical approach towards my pocket park for helping me organize everything and maintain a clear, uncluttered mind.

jerbear127, thank you for your honesty and understanding response. I apologize to both you and Ivsa1841 if I appeared rude, and didn't intend to do so. Based on what I have read regarding the social aspects within the architectural realm, it is important to handle criticism and accept that there will be conflicting opinions, and that the capacity to treat these discrepancies reasonably with a rhetorical client is a must. This has been a great learning experience, jerbear127, thank you! Anyways, because you have responded with a considerable deal of deliberation, I will follow suit (out of respect!). First, Ivsa1841 narrowed the scope of my developments as a revitalization, which I felt was both inaccurate and dismissive, "To dismiss my design...". Let me remind you, according to Merriam Webster, to revitalize is, "to give new life or vigor to", which I believe failed to completely sum up my project. I will inform you just like how I informed Ivsa1841, "I didn't necessarily bring new life into an "old" park, I completely modified it to meet new provisions set by moi.". I didn't invest a few dozen hours into a new design that sought to fix,"a few hiccups here and there,", hence why I believed the latter was a bit shallow. Regarding the CAF, "I believe, if memory serves me right, readjustment of an already existing park is welcomed.". My park fits within the two-lot limit, same with the CAF's guidelines, otherwise I wouldn't have entered. In addition, i'm not sure if you've noticed that my pocket park fits perfectly with the pocket park definitions you have provided (save the two-lot size exclusive to the CAF's restrictions). It is not my fault the nearest flat of land with the perfect conditions for a pocket park in proximity to my home has already been seized. I sought to vastly (emphasis on vastly), improve the previously established pocket park. I am grateful for the myriad feedback my submission has been receiving, there is no doubt about it. I have made an effort to respond to every one of the comments written towards my project, as well as relay feedback towards those who took the time to view mine (when time permits) prior to this discussion. Again I wish to apologize for appearing rude, and want to thank you for your commentary. It is my hope we can both share the desire to put this little fuss to rest and agree to reach a resolve (like mature adults of course!). Thank you jerbear127!
