Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #276

Summary

How I developed the solutions, I had several talks with current and past athletes. I also visited with several members of the booster club and coaches so that I could be up to date with their future plans that I could implement into my project. And I also once again visited my personal list of ideas for the project to see how well they would suit not only my needs, but the needs of future athletes as well. Finally I also looked at several athletic facilities from around the country to see what ideas other schools had. So far I found some ideas that would work really well with the space provided for Lincoln East. One of the most important things to keep in mind while doing this is that not all of the free space around the school actually belongs to the school. The city owns much of the land to the south of the school, and private property is to the north for residential neighborhoods. The only real options I had was to make better use of the space that's already given and make possible changes to the west of the school. Now I also had to keep this cost efficient so I decided instead of tearing down all of the previously established structures, I would simply redesign and re-purpose what has already been established.
