Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #194

Summary

Below, is an outline for my thought process and specific elements, components or just ideas that I would like to include in my final design. These features include a lot of elevated walkways, level spaces that reflect fluidity through unvarying elevations, glass as a main construction material and a lot of outside space.

What I need to include:

Consider these elements to be below surface. More negative depth than positive.
Pool: on roof?
Surrounded by wood on all sides
A lot of space around all edges of the pool
Elevated sections (with flow) for spectating
Track: On roof for sure
Basketball Court
Concessions
Locker rooms
Gym Spaces
Storage
Weight/Fitness Rooms
Bathrooms
Offices

Properties of Athletes:
Flow
Definition
Focus

Incomplete Concept Elements:
Track and Field on the roof of the stadium which is the central element of the new complex.
Track is elevated off the actual roof of stadium-supported by curvy arms
Integrate sport elements into building elements
Mostly indoor sports (except track)
Make outdoor spaces weave or interact with concrete structures
Entire spaces secluded from exterior of building
Very distinguished/multiple layers
These layers can ascend or descend vertically
Layers can also protrude or intrude
Overlapping elements
Not all components in a linear pattern
Can create decks or overhanging structures of both
Decks can be very open.
There can be decks that are lunches very far into a structure, so they can have structures on the top and bottom while still being outside.
Modules of building contain more open and common spaces than spaces cluttered with individual rooms secluded by separating walls.
NOT compartmentalized
Interior spaces have many elevated walkways
Interior walkways can all be overlooking a common space (possibly main space to entrance)

Open concept:
Deck/surrounding walkway level with the interior floor
Nothing intersection or interfering with the elevations of the base floor
Deck is level with interior to simulate open concept
Use sliding glass doors to integrate nature with building
Sliding doors don't protrude into and interrupt outdoor or indoor space
Try to integrate the design with the gigantic hill as much as possible
If the building can descend I legation from top entrance rather than gain
