Advanced Technologies Academy (A-Tech) is one of the various magnet high schools in the Clark County School District of Las Vegas, Nevada. A-Tech was established in 1994 and became one of the best high schools in the state of Nevada. A-Tech has many awards to show it off and have good passing percentage of the state proficiency, about 97% of the students that attend this school pass on their first time. A-Tech has eight different programs to off the students and they are the following: Architectural Design, Computer Graphics, Engineering, Law and Business. Students can come in for any of these programs and interact with other kids in different programs. One of the cons about A-Tech is the gym. There are a lot of athletic students that attend A-Tech and they are not draw in to the gym because of the condition it is like: the floor is dirty; so you will slip, the gym is small; not enough room for everyone to be in it; the weight room doesn’t have decent equipment and etc.
Design Problem: Even though A-Tech is only an academic school and focus on that more than sports, the student here should deserve a decent gym to play in. The Physical Education classes have trouble in the gym because those classes are huge and the gym, weight room and locker rooms are small and won’t fit all the students. The exterior building is just plain and has no inspiration into going into the building. The kids won’t want to play in the gym because of how dirty it is, how small it is and the way it is set up. This building is too far away from the main building. Students don’t want to walk so far from class to gym back to class. They should have a short walk from gym to class and don’t have to worry about being late. Other problems with the gym are that we have assemblies in the gym and we need to split the assembly into two because students here are oversize for the small gym. Even with the split assembly we still need a lot of chairs on the floor for the students to have room from the bleachers because it’s so many students in so little space.
Design Solution: My plan on solving this problem is to relocate the gym, for better access, different material and just redesign it to fit the students today and the future. First off I will relocate the gym to the center of the field
