It looks nice for the 3rd container on the top, but I do not see the reason behind it. I would aslo look at the placement of your rooms. I do like your porch things on the tops of the containers. -Nicholas Stem

I am somewhat concerned that the two sides of the house are not connected by an indoor area on the same floor, especially since there is no roof over the outside area. This could be solved by encasing the center area. Not only would this make the house more accessible, but it would give you more floorspace to work with and would eliminate the need for two separate staircases. - Stephen

It looks like a very luxurious home, but there is only one bedroom here, and it has little room. Perhaps you could steal some square-footage from your massive kitchen to fix that issue.

very symmetrical, however it does make it a little redundant to have more than one porch, and it would be a little inconvenient to have to get to one room from another through having to go outside.

Lynn-Interesting use of containers. I like that you cut the containers in half to create more space width-wise since most containers are so long in length. One main question I have is how water is going to drain off the roof since from what I can tell it is flat?

Good Sir Mark,

While I appreciate the concept of folding a container and using it to create a square room, i do not agree with a kitchen on the second floor. One has to lug groceries up and down a spiral stair up and down and up and down it seems tiresome. Also not to mention that the appliances must get up there some how. I love the color scheme.

Dearest Mark,
This is a rather interesting and attractive design, I feel you used your floor space inefficiently.

Dearest Mark,
I find that your doors intersect with other objects such as furniture stairs and other doors. Also, your bedroom and bathroom are very compact and claustrophobic.

Mya: I like the color of the house and the two balconies, but I don't think it is convenient to either walk outside or upstairs to get to the other side of the house.

The challenge for this project is to design a home out of storage containers with a budget of 30,000 dollars. The advantages of using shipping containers are that they are cheap with used being about $1,200 to new being $6,000 and can be fixed up fairly easily. Also they can be cut, and welded together fairly easily allowing them to be modified into different shapes. To add on to that supports can be added easily verses a wood frame house. The differences is that steal containers are not well insulated and need insolation to keep the house cool. Also used containers will have to be cleaned out and fixed up to make habitable due to spillages during their use. The parameters are that the containers are 40 feet x 8 feet each, materials that are used are only containers and recycled materials. Also we can only use 4 containers. Other than that it is free rein on what we can due.
