2012 national competition project #125 | cafeteria redesign
|Innovation. While innovating we challenge “the norm” with new ideas, and in doing this, we create. In this case, creativity is the key for success. My challenge is not to just change Glenbrook South’s cafeteria, but to properly innovate it as well. No, I won’t stop there. It would be absolute to make sure that the new design is student friendly while showing off a glimmer of Titan pride. Titans are the theme for Glenbrook South and its mascot. I want students to feel pride in their school, even based off of the location they eat at. Along with these ideas, I have an ambition to design a cafeteria based on Green technology. There are many viable ways to implement green design into our current cafeteria such as adding skylights, photovoltaic panels and maybe even trombe walls. Lastly, I want to encourage students to eat healthy. Health is a growing issue in the U.S. and can be addressed in many different ways, one of them being the redesign of not just our cafeteria, but cafeterias all around. The excess of junk food in our current cafeteria should be dealt with. Maybe my design of a new cafeteria can help spark a sense of seriousness on the topic of our schools health. These are all just ideas, but ideas are what advance us to the future.
