Site Description The site is a high school fronting Fort Greene Park. The main entrance is on the west side of the school, library located on the 5th floor.
Job Description You are to design and prepare construction documents for a newly renovated library. The job entails the demolition of all doors, windows, and furniture. Items to remain include the building’s super structure, which includes columns, joists, girders, beams and decks/slabs.
You are to renovate the existing school library with requirements and steps of the design process:
Collecting info:
• Gather information about school library
• Look for problems ie, not enough computers, messy sorting system
Solution: take pictures and videos, document each problem of the library
Brainstorm:
• Refer to the “collecting info” section and think of solutions and ideas that will benefit the library and the people who go to the library.
Solution: write down ideas
Develop Solutions:
• Put all the ideas from the “collecting info” section with the “brainstorm” section,
• Jot down more ideas
• Begin drawing ideas
Solution: put together rough ideas with drawings and models to show new solutions
Final Design:
• Following the “develop solutions” section, create more drawings and/or models
• Finalize your design and drawings and/or models.
Solution: Finalize idea, add color, extra detail, and explain the purpose for each part of the library you have changed or innovated.
