i assume this is the first floor - i'm struggling to get my bearings in this plan - where is the new circular space that you are proposing? how do you access it? what happens there?

i like the idea of the sculpture/public art for sure - those icons always end up being meeting points for students and faculty.

where did all of the books go???

Though I love the idea of a domed building, especially the ornate ones found in the European cathedrals, how will yours not be confused with an observatory,like the one above? How will your plans include the ideas and concerns of the ML Librarian?

Conceptually I really like it. Salt water aquariums use a ton of power. Think about power savings in other areas to spend on running the mini ocean you have built into your expanded library.

I, too, would like to see more shelving and newer books. You need a constant stream of funding to do that. The librarian is reduced to seeking funding from any source: donations, fund raisers, grants and site council. Please include a source for funding for print and non-print materials in your wonderful design. Sarah Gibson, Librarian, MLHS

Three cheers for incorporating student art and the matador sculpture. I am reminded of the Bear outside of former Governor Schwarzenegger's office and the bears outside of Cal Expo. I like your idea of connecting the two buildings with an aquarium. It will keep the mood calm for students.

We really like the idea of having the dome roof, to make it stand out from the other buildings. You can make the dome roof more creative, make it out if other material. What are you guys going to do to make it stand out even more?
