Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #207
Summary
Program
Joseph Ong
The new athletic pavilion would be an extension of the already existing gym. The main entrance of the new athletic pavilion would be in front of the gym (APA). The new pavilion would have a number of shared spaces. I plan to combine similar sports together in order to save space. The secondary building is located in what is currently the school bus parking lot. I will only use a small section of the parking lot since I would have to find a relocation point for the buses if I were to use the entire parking lot space. The Level 2 of the pavilion would stretch over a street that is separating the two first floor locations. The level would connect the two spaces two create a sense a flow throughout the building. The Level 3 of the pavilion would serve as a green roof and rain collector. There would also be a gardening/farming area to grow fruits and vegetables. The concession stands in the pavilion could get most of their produce from the garden/farm. This is a list of what I propose the pavilion would include.
