Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #198

Summary

A few issues encountered were, flooding, the incoming amount of students, and the school space. The APA is soon going to be transformed into an academy, replacing all of the present fitness equipment. In order to still be able to provide students with the facilities, we have to create a whole new space where they can exercise and play sports. Another issue is flooding. Since the school is at the bottom of a giant hill, all of the excess water from the town runs down the hill, flooding the bottom, which happens to be where part of the school is. Not only are there parked cars there, but students also have to walk outside to be able to go from one building to another. The current space also doesn't provide the space desired by students and faculty to properly exercise.
Another one of the issues I encountered was parking. Students, faculty, and the school buses have different lots. There are two lots up by the main entrance of the school and then another lot for faculty and students down by the current APA. There is also school bus parking lot that. All of this needs to have a certain amount of space when the new building is built and possibly relocated.
