Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #201
|High Tech High School is a very diverse school located in North Bergen, NJ. Many of the students that attend the school participate in different sports. The only thing is there isn't much room for the students to practice on their free time and to play whenever they would like to. We now provide space to play basketball, volleyball, soccer, yoga and a small area for weight lifting. The school also has a running club and bowling club.
My plan for the new school pavilion is to make it a place where the students would enjoy and want to be there on their free time. Which means I would make it accessible for everyone, meaning it would have provide space for the majority of the sports and activities the students enjoy participating in. There would be indoor and outdoor areas so if the students don’t want to be inside they will have a variety of activities to do outside. High Tech is known for being very active not only within the school but in a variety of outside activities. Therefore the new athletic pavilion would just expand the culture within the school and the surrounding area. I feel that the new athletic pavilion should be located down the block from the school, where our current gym located. Only thing is due to us being located at the bottom of a hill I will have to remember that the area I plan building on floods whenever it rains.
