Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #170

Summary

Looking at my old gym, I thought about how I could take the P.E. teachers opinions and the overall design of the school and make it better! I began to focus on one of the biggest issues of the gym which is the space. All three P.E. teachers agree that space is definitely an issue and so I expanded the area to accommodate for two NBA regulation basketball courts and two volleyball courts! After solving the space issue, I then looked into the locker rooms. Listening to other students, they agreed that the locker rooms were too awkwardly spread apart and wanted them closer together just for convenience. Then finally, the issue of the weight room. Everyone agrees that it is too small and that they'd rather much have a large room to workout in, because of this I made the weight room almost as big as the courtroom itself and added in gym equipment. Hopefully, these ideas will work out since all known issues and complaints from others were dealt with.
