The challenge is to design a house made out of one or multiple shipping containers. These containers need to be able to comfortably house one person or a family comfortably for an extended period of time and have most of, if not all of, the components of a regular house. Because there is an overabundance of derelict and even useable containers for many different types of cargo in the world, this would be a good alternative housing for many people and for those who want a “greener” choice of living space made out of recycled items. These houses would have to be relatively low cost and efficiently designed so people can move comfortably throughout the building.
My design for a container house will be constructed out of 4 cargo containers and will be designed to house one person. Placed on a plot of land in a rural area, this house will be located in the middle of a clearing surrounded mostly by woods. It will have a bedroom, living area, kitchen, bathroom, and entryway. Windows are to be installed in the walls and possibly a ceiling hatch/window will be added as well. There will be a single door to enter into the house, and both the bedroom and the bathroom will have their own doors.
