Pocket Park Design - 6th Street Park
Summary
In my final design I focused my parks design along its initial purpose of being a relaxing environment where one could come to talk with others or simply relax among the trees. I kept my initial three section design, adding tables to sections two and three. I also added on the pathway to connect sections one and two, dividing it off from section 2 with a wall of Cyprus trees. In addition to this I added a bench along the pathway, a fountain at the entrance, and a gate in the back as a secondary exit. I also created an extensively open patch of grass in addition to the flat terrain of the park to give an open feel in addition to the sense of isolation the surrounding trees provide. These elements, along with the vegetation, all come together to produce a park that's relaxing and inviting.

Adaptive Reuse
Architects often find creative ways to reuse old structures that are no longer in use. Check out how old rail lines were adapted to create New York's High Line and Chicago's 606.
