Pocket of Sunshine
|The space that I will be designing a pocket park is located in 1700-1898 N Simmons St Las Vegas, NV which is also near Vegas Drive where A-Tech is located. This space is located in a place surrounded by apartments and houses so it would attract more residents. Having a high school near the park is also a great advantage because the park will be designed to attract younger aged groups and also the senior residents. Since this park is designed to be a place for people to interact, space is a very important factor. The total square footage will not exceed 14,500. This will be a spacious park for people to interact. Another important factor to consider is how to design a park that will attract all age groups, especially the younger and older aged groups. One thing I considered is to include a children’s playing area aside from the rest of the park yet it will be very close to the rest of the park just so the adults could watch over the kids. Most of the older citizens like to walk outside and enjoy the sunlight while hanging out with other senior citizens; this park will be the perfect park for those looking for a place to chat with others, getting sunlight, and being able to bring their grandchildren outside. This pocket park will be a place for citizens that live around the park to interact.

You have some great ideas for your pocket park. I like how you considered the context of your site and how to meet the needs of different age groups. The park equipment definitely helps in interaction and activity for all ages. I would have liked to see more documentation on your park design to see your design and thought process.
You really did very well on your brainstorming and developing solutions steps. So many great instances of looking in unexpected areas to find inspiration. Thinking about park equipment and exercise is a great idea for a pocket park. Your final design work is very clear however some labels would help us understand the direction and size of your park.
