Western Redbud Park
|A pocket park (also known as a parakeet, mini-park, vest-pocket park) is a small park accessible to the general public. Pocket parks are frequently created on a single vacant building lot or on small, irregular pieces of land. The park will be more modern that goes with the hype of the strip, and the container park.
Which will make people interested in going to a park where it has a new style. It will make the community feel like they are part of the hype.
The park will be made for all types of ages, whether for children to play on the playground, or older citizens, who likes to take a daily walk, or read in the park. Adults as well, it will be a great place to relax, and interact with others. Teenagers will have the opportunity of having a place to meet with friends and to have social gatherings in safe environment.
The park will have colors that will attract many people from the community. The main goal of this pocket park, is to get the community more involved. The pocket park will have many meeting areas to socialize, and have a play ground area for children. The pocket park will have many lights throughout the park to ensure and make the people feel secure. The park will also include a pathway to walk around, or be used as a running routine, which will also in act for people to move around more. The park will have a sustainable development by promoting to recycle, and to add green space because Las Vegas is a place were green space lacks due to the insufficient amount of water. Therefore in order to have a green space, plants that require a low amount of water are going to be used to make it into a green space. It will fix the water issue and enhancing the beauty for the community.
The environmental impact that it has will be beneficial to the community, it will promote for people to meet out more, make the community interact with each other. The park will promote and be a reminder to people to always keep the environment clean, and to recycle.

Right off the bat I want to say how I appreciate how much writing you have done for this competition. I really went through all the steps knowing exactly what you were thinking and what your intended goals were. The section about the colors was a nice surprise and I really liked the images of the parks and pathways you found elsewhere.
I would have really loved to see you sketch more during your develop solution and during your final steps, really figuring out if the park was for everyone like you said it was. A pocket park is only so big, so you have to ask yourself what are the specific goals of the park as it really can't be the ideal park for everyone due to size.
