The twenty second ward’s major intersection is 26th street. This street in home of the neighborhood; Little Village. Little Village is inhabited by a majority of Mexicans and Mexican Americans. As a result of the high population of Hispanics, many have not yet learned how to speak English, and some rarely go outside of the neighborhood. People in this area, for the most part, are people that are in search for a job and a brighter future.
My building would help my ward giving people an opportunity for a jump start. I would like to incorporate a place where people in need could go for temporary housing, and basic classes that teach skills every person should have. Some of the resources you could find there could be a workshop where you could create a resume, a portfolio, learn basic technical skills, and learn English. An important aspect of the building is that it would provide resources that could help you look for permanent housing and, more importantly, find a job. I would like to design a place where people that don’t know where else to go when looking for a life her in the U.S.
