Summary

Most of the feedback we received was a criticism of the open space on top of our roofs that could be used instead of left. We also received feedback on our lobby. Our lobby was very spacious, so we decided to put a fountain in the middle and seating for relaxation. Our building has now been redesigned so that it can be accessed by the public. We tried to make it as relaxing as possible and the most comfortable it could be like some of the POPUSes we saw in San Francisco.

Henrie Thompson, Director of Community Relations- I have learned that the building design process is not all hands on work. Numerous amounts of thought and strategies have to be put into play when it comes to a community point of view. The people always come first. You always have to think about what the people would want in a new facility. In this case, my goal was to make a new sports pavilion that attracts a large number of people and ultimately brings back some culture to Mira Loma.
I've learned that communication is absolutely key in this project especially when it comes to the directors of exterior, interior, and sustainability. If I do not express my visions to them, then certain aspects of the design cannot come to life. This project definitely taught me that working in and as a team is extremely important and it has benefited me in more ways than one.

Justin Luu, Director of Exterior Building Design - I now look at architecture as a completely different form of art. Something that might seem beautiful in an abstract art world would not be aesthetically pleasing in the architecture world. I learned that even though I don't like working with a group, when you are given a group to work with, it is best to use that group to your advantage and not try to make it a one man project. I also learned that communication outside of the classroom is a must if you are dealing with a project that is very time consuming.

Brandon Lopez, Director of Interior Building Design - The project was overall a very productive experience, but very taxing because you have to take so much detail into consideration. I now respect architects and designers a lot more, because it is a lot harder than you may think. I believe communication and teamwork is absolutely essential for productivity in this project, especially when forming all the directors’ ideas together into one model. Also, feedback is very important because you must be open to change and new ideas to achieve the ultimate goal of creating the best model possible.

Denis Yushkov, Director of Interior Building Décor - I have learned that the colors and the textures have to coincide in the provided space in order for the interior décor to work and look good and professional. I too believe that communication is the main power and responsibility in a team. It is an essential for the team so it could get over the obstacles and get objectives done.

Daniela Guzman, Director of Landscape- I've learned much about the landscape design process. I learned that it takes much thought and hard work to create art with landscape. When people go out to places they never really admire or pay attention to the landscape of the building and how much work was put into it. The way any building is built has a specific reason to why it was built that way and people have no clue about that. Also knowing that there are specific details to the garden on choosing the type flowers, plants, and even grass used. I truly admire the people who work on landscape because they create art work and also have to maintain this garden takes a lot of work. It takes much dedication and hard work into creating these beautiful gardens and I respect people who work on landscape designs.
