Summary

We are getting rid of the water garden in the library, and instead incorporating a flower garden in the entry way to the library. The flower garden will consist of a lot of water efficient plants that will be planted like a book. Literally, the flowers will be made and carved into an opened book. Also in the center of the library, there will be a staircase made, completely, out of an aquarium. We are not sure about what we can put on the roof yet, but we are discussing ideas and some of them include have a window that opens and closes in order to allow air in. Another idea is to have a lounge area on the roof but with shading that will allow students, staff and other people from the community to have a quiet time, but as well in the open fresh air that will help them read or study.

Our building will have windows all around the floors to make use of natural lighting. The entry way is completely windows along with the top part of the building.

Our green building ideas will include many natural energy absorbers and producers so we can keep our costs down. The garden outside will include water efficient plants and trees. We will use flourescent light bulbs throughout the facility. We will also use efficient water in the toilets and in all of the sinks and have reduced air conditoning during the summer because of the fact that we will have the second floor have an opened air vent to let fresh air constantly coming in.
We will have a community room that people can rent out and use for parties or celebrations and that is made completely of glass also. Our whole facility will be used with the community but they will have to have I.D. card verification that verifies that they are part of the community.

The location of the construcion of the library will be where the basketball courts are. These basketball courts will be removed and moved into the fields and parts of the parking lot that are not necessarily used.
