This is the part of the drama room where students are in action. Black wooden blocks are used to create a mini set and allow the students to imagine their surroundings in a scene. There is a mirror in the far right corner; used for hair and makeup to prepare for the stage. Additionally, spot lights are hung along the ceiling to teach students about backstage operations. A white curtain is also hung along the pole to further create the feeling of being on a stage.
The wall to wall carpeting takes up about two thirds of the room, the rest is plain tile. Many of the students, and the teacher, have asked for new flooring material. They claim that the carpet does not smell pleasant and it does get dirty many times.
Additionally, students have asked to change the wood blocks. It has become a safety hazard due to the bits of wood and screws sticking out of the blocks.
When we asked some students from the play what they think of this room, one request they made was to expand the mirror. They claimed that the expansion would make it easier for them to effectively prepare for hair and makeup to go on stage.
