Daniela Guzman: Director of Landscape Design-In California the weather has changes which affect what kind of grass is grown. In Sacramento, since we have cold climates, the type of grass that would be used for the field would be Turf grass. Turf is specifically used for sports fields which make it easy for the players to run and for the ball to glide easier. Around the sports pavilion I have planned to have dug up holes in the ground and place like 6 Zelkova Serrata trees around the building. In front of the building there will be circular shrubs that will be located at the ends of the building. In the middle in between the stair cases there will be a small area where it will be used as a flower garden which will have red and blue daises that will write out "ML" surrounded by other bright color daisies. Landscape has a great cost due to the type of maintenance needed, lawn mowing, sprinkler system, the installation of the landscape, and fertilization or treatment against the bugs. What would cost the most for the landscape would be trying to maintain the field, trees, shrubs green. Water is known to help keep people calm, and for this we will have a fountain in the middle of the lobby which will help people keep clam and to be pleased. The fountain benefits the lobby to help it have a better view to the lobby and to not have a full empty space. Henrie Thompson: Director of Community Relations - After school and during the weekends, I would like to open our swimming pools to the community for recreational activities. If there are no sports practices or games going on, then our pools will be open after school from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, the pool will be open from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. There will also be a supervisor/lifeguard on duty at all times. To help maintain the pools after hours, we will have rules and regulations posted around the gym area. We expect the users of the pools to follow these rules in order to assist us in keeping it clean and safe. Denis Yushkov: Director of Interior Décor Design - We are going to use the traditional bleachers used in today's fields and gyms. We are also going to be using the traditional scoreboards that are being used in today's fields and gyms. We have left and open space that extends from the lobby to the dome called the Hall of ML, which has all of Mira Loma's accomplishments from sports to academics. We are going to be using all kinds of window treatments. Justin Luu: Director of Exterior Design - Our current sports facilities were built when this school was built and definitely need a new, modern look. The current student parking lot would be a great place for parking for our new sports facilities. All tickets and snacks will be sold in the lobby of our facility. The lobby is the goto place for anything you may need when watching a football game. We would also open up the space for anyone that wants to sell any Mira Loma apparel. Brandon Lopez: Director of Interior Design - The big gym can fit approximately 2000 people in bleachers and our Matadome model can fit approximately 5000 people. We will be using columbia blue and scarlet red glossy paint for the interior of the entire building, including the locker rooms and courts. The flooring design for the lobby is going to be marble. The gyms and courts will be hardwood. The restrooms will be built within the locker rooms, similar to the current design. Jay Patterson: Director of Energy & Sustainability - The United States Government has a program called LEED by the USBGC which provides building owners with framework to build more energy efficient buildings. California also has a set of regulations for sustainability called Cal-Green, which you must abide by if you want your building built. When energy is not in use, they turn off the lights. They usually perform monthly maintenance of heating and cooling equipment to guarantee efficient operation. They install energy efficient light bulbs which last longer than regular light bulbs. We can partner with Energy STAR because it promotes products that are energy efficient. It can also not only save money but it would help the environment as well.
