Zac Mathieu - Director of External Building Design

1. The main issue with the current library is the lack of space to expand to accommodate the students that use it during lunch and break. The library also lacks eco-friendly features such as a device to collect rainwater and solar panels. We plan on improving the natural lighting throughout the library by installing windows that around the entire building.

2. The library was initially built to have plenty of study rooms and book rooms for students before the era of computers. As technology began to grow computers became the main source of collecting information. The library attempted to adjust by adding computers to rooms that aren’t properly ventilated, and the large amount of people that fill these small computer rooms only increases the temperature of the rooms.

3.The library is currently wheelchair accessible, however, the front entrance of the library is located next an area that experiences high traffic flow during passing periods. This cramped area could make it difficult for people in wheelchairs to enter through the front of the library. The library also lacks braille signs to direct the blind.

Aldo Guzman- Director of Sustainability & Energy
1. The government now requires the LEED requirements in all new office buildings and schools. This reduces money and carbon emissions.

2. Mira loma currently has the recycling club, which recycles paper and cans on campus

4. There are very inexpensive solar panels that can save thousands on bills, since they work year round. Things such as a/c units and heating units can be powered by small wind turbines and solar panels. Rainwater can be recycled into use for toilets and sinks throughout campus.
