Hi Design4Tech! I'm an architect in Chicago, and I'm on the jury for the competition. I really like your incorporation of video! It helped me get a sense of the site across the street from your school (even if it was a small glimpse through the grates on the windows!).
It would have been very helpful to see pictures and/or sketches of the existing cafeteria.
I really liked your initial sketches, even though your final design ended up being pretty different. That's not a bad thing! That's why architects always start out with sketches. Our design can change dozens of times before we reach a final solution. I think it would have been helpful to read a written description of your final design and how to came to it. I'm having a hard time following how you reached your solution after seeing all your ideas in the brainstorming and development stages that didn't seem to make it to the final product.
I really like your 3d video walkthrough! It really helps me get a sense of the space. The revit model seems to be really well built. That can be hard to do!
Your final solution is pretty well organized with the tables and chairs along the perimeter and the serving and support areas in the center.

Fantastic job on your cafeteria redesign! You have worked through the whole design process as this project intended. From the beginning concept of 'Harmony with the outdoors' to the research conducted exploring your ideas. You researched modern but simple ideas and this was conveyed throughout your design. I was able to see your development of ideas and your design aesthetic come through. A couple of thoughts, it would have been nice to have a photo of what your school building looks like. Is your new design referencing the old or breaking out on its own? Perhaps an overall plan of the two buildings as they sit across from one another. Does the flow from one to other work well? Also you researched glass facades and even played around with a few ideas but in the final design, did not do much with it. Perhaps you weren't sure which way to take it? Your walk through is very well done and you are to be commended for the hard work. Overall, great job. You've done well and I sure hope you decide to make architecture a future career!
