LDesign a New School Athletic Pavilion

Hello, I am an American architect living in Madrid, Spain and am one of the jury members for the first round of this year's competition.
You did a great job in the collecting information phase and had nicely labelled aerial photos. Throughout the design process you displayed a good combination of hand and computer technical skills.
I hope you keep developing your technical skills so taht you can arrive at a high level of sophitication. Also, do not be afraid to explore more ideas and develop them during the design process.
Good work and thanks for sharing! I hope you had fun with this project and keep developing your skills, maybe to some day apply them in an architectural related career.

Definitely need elevator to haul supplies/equipment/people with disabilities up and down....Unclear about sustainability benefits and environmental impact your design has on site/neighborhood. Would be great to combine your very competent technical drafting skill with more accurate square footage requirements for all activities and spaces within the athletic complex.

An interesting form. How does it engage with the existing school building and site?

It is very useful when designing a new facility to have the approximate square footage requirements of each component to be accurate (size of basketball court, track requirements, etc). Still unclear if this is truly a brand new facility or reuse of the west gym (however this looks like a square and aerial photo looks as though west gym would be a rectangle). Very symmetrical layout, but does it make sense, does it work with requirements of spaces for the athletic facility? And, whatever happened to the old gym facility?

Happy to see a sketch with labels! Scale would be very useful to truly understand the relationship of program requirements (square footage requirements) with each other. Still do not have an understanding of relationship of this space with the school and site.......

I believe this is first indication that you are suggesting that you are recommending that the main gym be relocated to the site of the West Gym (are they suppose to flip locations)? I am assuming this is based on your "issue" of adjacencies to playing fields. Actual sketches of the facility would be helpful at this stage to show circulation and programming requirements.

Excellent use of aerial photos.

Interviews with end users is critical when addressing the issues of the design problem.

A site plan would be very useful to understand the relationship of the existing gym facility and sports fields to the school, neighborhood. Do not understand the problem with the small side gym-is it scheduling the various activities? Also, swimming is noted in the small side gym but I do not see a pool (is there a pool on campus)?

MDesign a food stand for a site around your school

My stand is going to be placed in the right in front of the main entrance of the school. The stand will be located in the main hallway of the school and will be a few feet from the cafeteria.
