Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #28

Summary

For the final design, a lot of the previous design remained the same. However, I had to get into the details of the interior space to make sure that it makes sense and is practical for a mixed use athletic facility. Since I proposed the public use corridor to double as a space for bleachers on top, I had to insert railings. I also decided to not put windows on the left side of the corridor, just to ensure privacy of the students.
The layout I made in Revit was almost complete except for the gym space for the students. So I inserted details such as bleachers, basketball court layout, and basketball hoops. I also changed the materials of the finishing on the walls to accommodate my design. The track has also changed shape as well. The one currently existing is curved, which is bad in my opinion. It's awkward to run on and caused one of my peers to fall. Therefore, I made the track flat, and it's now made with vulcanized rubber rather than the artificial turf with hardwood underneath.
