Mira Loma HS Library Re-Design

Summary

The space is very limited, there is no specific workplace for Mrs. Gibson to sort out books, and only about two classes can fit at a time. There is insufficient space to add couches, bean bags, or additional tables.
The counselors and IB students use the library for presentations. The library is also used for testing. Some art teachers like to give the librarian artwork that they want displayed in the library.
Mrs. Gibson has made some specific requests for the new library. The first thing she requested was work space or a separate room where she can put the computer carts and doesn’t have to keep on going back and forth checking out chromebooks or laptops. Mrs. Gibson has a room for lunch time as well but it is way too small so she needs a bigger room. In addition, she asked for updated technology because our computers are old and keep on breaking and there is no technician to fix them or a clerk that could at least help out. Another problem she stated was that students cannot print from the laptops where all their work is saved, therefore, she asked for an additional chrome printer. A lot of the furniture is old and outdated and needs to be replaced. Our school also has some students that are on wheelchairs and cannot reach up or stand up to the counter, so our librarian requested a new desk that will allow disabled students to easily check out books and communicate with Mrs. Gibson. She also requested new carpeting and new curtains because they are in a very bad condition. Last but not least, she wants a lot more graphic novels.
