Summary

• What is the purpose of a school locker?
The purpose of a school locker is to hold student’s items. It is made to be protective of the items, and easy for the students to access and store the items.
• How has the way you use a locker changed since you first started school in kindergarten, for example?
Lockers in kindergarten were more in the form of cubbies. The cubbies were large and without a door. They were not meant to be protective. They were solely meant to store student’s items. Now, they are still used to store items, yet, the risk of stolen items is possible. Thus the manufacturers made the lockers out of metal and put locks on them to keep the items safe.
• How many times do you visit and open your locker each day?
We rarely use our lockers as they are not convenient and are unnecessary. We use them 0 to 1 times a day.
• Do teachers or school administrators have any safety or security concerns about lockers? What are they?
There are many concerns of locker safety. Every locker has a risk of a person stealing something from the locker. Some students keep money and cellphones in their lockers.
• What types of materials is your locker constructed from?
The locker is mainly constructed of metal. There are not many other materials in the locker unless the owner adds their own material (personalization).
