Collect info • Features of the locker o Hooks o Air pocket o Lock dial • I currently don’t keep anything in my locker • I wish the lockers weren’t so inconvenient • Measurement of the locker o Width: 12 inch o Height: 24 inch o Depth: 12 inch • Measurement of items that would go in a locker(Height, width, depth) o Textbook: 14” x 8.5” x 3” o Book: 6” x 9” x 3” o Binder: 11.5” x 9.75” x 1.5” o Composition Notebook: 9.5” x 7.5” x ½” o Spiral bound notebook: 10.5” x 8” x ½’’ • Measurement of school hallway/space taken up by students who open their locker door o The width for the hallway is roughly 14 feet. o The average space a student would take up opening a locker would be 1 or 2 feet width. • Likes and Dislikes of other lockers o I like the safety designs that have been implemented into the locker. It’s neat that manufactures have been able to put in stronger locks, like id scanner or key code, onto the locker to keep it safer than other lockers. Along with that is the design of it, they have mad lockers look more pleasing to the human eye, instead of the same grayish, brown like color that look resenting to some people. o I dislike some of the features to the locker. They have created a glass, see through locker, it might be safe but people don’t want others seeing what they have. That’s one of the reasons for having a locker. Another thing is the space. It seems that a lot of the lockers are getting smaller, almost like little cubies. That defies one of the reasons for having a locker, it’s important to have space in a locker. • Student complaints with lockers o The main problem students have with lockers is the lack of space. Students feel that they can’t put the things they don’t need on them, in their lockers because of the small size of the lockers. Students say that they can’t even put their winter coat in the locker without it getting full. The size of lockers is the main problem. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/24/AR2007022401329.html
