For the garden in our design we will be creating a Zen garden. Our garden will contain sand and stones to cut down on our schools use of water.

You could also use indigenous plants that rely on the rain for their water; although they would still require some maintenance (trimming, etc).

Why did you guys decided to do a Zen garden instead of a community garden?

I love zen gardens =). It would be really cool if you could incorporate a seating area into the garden.

Thank you for your suggestion! I'll be sure to take it into consideration!

We decided to incorporate a Zen garden into our library beacause when discussing the whole idea of a communtiy garden in our library we realized that it really didn't fit the overall theme of the library.

Our group has been discussing how we plan on maintaining the plants for our garden. We even discussed having artificial plants. We'll be sure to do more research and come up with the best possible solution. Thank you!

We would suggest you making a garden that will also be a use for the community.

The Zen garden will actually be split into two separate gardens. One garden will be used for simply viewing while the other garden will be used by the community to learn how to arrange the rocks and sand as well as appreciate the simplicity of the Zen garden.
