Redesign Your School Athletic Pavilion | 2014 National High School Architecture Competition #2

Landscape Features: This picture shows us the current landscape around A-TECH's gym that consist of different types of desert landscaping. We have a lack of green plants because of the desert climate. All landscaping features will be based on my design by building orientation. I will be using different kinds of trees like Japanese Cherry Blossoms, Red Ash, or Hawthorn. We can also use Mexican Feather Grass, Sage Bush, or Purple Bush Vygie to have a better looking school campus while still conserving water.

The landscaping could be considered xeriscape - which is a fancy word for landscapes that use very little water. I like that you're considering the importance of the landscape design relative to the architecture. They should work in concert to create the overall experience. A sense of place is critical for any building, and how it interacts with the landscape is a big part of that.
