Hazlenut Meadows
05/18/15
One of my main concerns was the lack of shade in the park. Since the park , Hazelnut Meadows, will be located in Las Vegas, NV, I will need to add as much natural shading or shading structures for people, since the temperature in the summer can reach well into the 100's. I wanted to provide some shade without having to give up any space that could potentially be used for trees.
In order to compromise this, I found a type of park bench in which you could plant a tree in the middle. People can sit here while having shade provided by the tree. The picnic tables with umbrellas give people a chance to have a nice lunch with shade protecting them from the harsh Nevada heat.
You might be wondering what the giant boulder on the right is located where it is. Well, let me tell you: it provides shade for the whole area in which the picnic table and bench are situated. The boulder is located on the west side of this area, so in the evening it can provide some shade as the sun sets, and the gazebo provides shade during the morning. The trees behind this area will provide shade during high noon when the temperature is at it's peak.

- images (JPG, GIF) of your rough digital model.
- an axonometric or perspective view of your model with people, which will help others understand the scale of your park.
It's ok if your model is still a work in progress.
