This is a top view of the overall project. The blue represents all the areas with solar shingles. As you can see, since they are on all sides of the building, they will capture a profuse amount of energy during the day. The trees are also pretty equally placed in order to prevent sunshine from hitting the building directly during certain seasons. The reason there are no trees on the Western side is because that is the storage and loading area, and it is quite difficult to grow trees in pavement.

Great image- very descriptive. I suggest that this image be moved up- it helps provide some much needed context about the trees, the solar panels, and the overall form of the building. Very nice job.

The incorporation of the solar shingles and trees for shade are two terrific sustainable strategies. When incorporating such strategies it is important to also do solar studies early on in the design process to understand the sun's movement throughout the year, and the building's orientation in relation to it. This allows you to respond with a more accurate and sophisticated design.
