For landscape, our Director of Landscape Design was really attracted to incorporating amusement parks into the design, not necessarily the rides themselves, but the flow and movements of the rides. Since amusement parks often have some landscaping here and there, but a relatively small space of landscaping, we felt that taking the design of some of the amusement parks landscaping would be effortless to translate to our own style.

this is an interesting idea. what is about amusement parks that you think is applicable to your cafeteria? is there a similar condition that you are trying to create? you also talk about incorporating vegetable gardens into the project - how do these fit into your amusement park landscape?

The main thing we thought of as amusement park inspired landscaping is the quintessential logo of the park done in flowers which we recreated with Mira Loma's initials. A lot of pretty landscape in a small space is another thing we hope to create. The vegetable garden is small but that part is actually not something amusement park landscaping incorporates into. The comparable small spaces to amusement parks and our school is really what we hoped to connect to, especially how they fit in so much landscape.
