The white marble is an example of the material that we want to use for our library walls, floors, and the seating and tables in the garden.

you guys are really going to have to explain this material choice to me? Marble is expensive (!) and heavy and not really in line with your 'green' agenda or creating kind of a new, modern place. Explain the appeal of this a little please - i trust that you can convince me, i just need more info.

There is no budget, so we decided to use white marble. Plus, it's also good for keeping the building cool during the summer, and it requires almost no maintenance.

Marble is more appropriate for bigger, heavier buildings that need a good foundation. But, in this case, it would not fit the the design due to the smaller scale of the renovation of the library. Marble is very heavy, not cost efficient, harder to maintain. Since various, large groups will be using the library throughout the day, how often will maintained as well? Marble also has properties that do not insulate heat and do not allow ventilation.

We are essentially making a new library, and cost efficiency isn't a factor since there is no budget. There are many windows in the new building, to allow ventilation and natural sunlight.
