This is a picture of the main windows in the library. As you can see the blinds are long, off white almost a greyish color, rectangular, and in a way almost resemble prison bars. Natural light is completely shut out of the library thanks to the stacked books and awful blinds. This is a tragic lost to our students.

Are these vertical blinds ever opened up for the students? What direction do these windows face?

These blinds featured in this picture are occasionally opened for the students however there is grey mesh screen over the windows therefore not a sufficient amount of light gets let in. The windows face the southern part of the school. If you were to be entering the library from the main entrance the windows would be on your left.

The blinds are shut each night as part of security (the inability to see inside-computers, flat screens, Computers on Wheels (COWs). I think they are very unattractive, but they are approved by the fire department. The screens keep the temperature down to save electricity. I would like to see the windows washed on a regular basis! The blinds are opened each day except when, in the beginning of the year, we are so busy we don't even look up, but chech out 1000s of books over the course of 1 1/2 weeks.
