Why is this park so fenced off?

I think place 2 is a great choice. Considering that children are a significant percent of the residents in the area, it is wise to place it away from the streets. Just be sure to include pathways to the park so that children do not get lost while walking to and from the park.

I like the openness of your park. There's a nice distinction between landscape and recreational areas. The only thing I would have changed was created a better pathway to get to each area of your park. If you used a more defined walkway you could have tied in all of your areas so everything connected.

The pond is a nice touch to your park especially because you wanted to make your park fun. How deep would the pond be? Why did you decide to have the pond very close to the playground? A child could possible drown.

Very intricate overview of reasons behind the pocket park. You included background information of your childhood experience and combine it into your current ideas to meet the children's needs.

It's great that you made a sign. I like how the red will stand out and make it easier for people to find the park. However, where will this sign be located? Are there more than one scattered around the perimeter of the park?

This is a nice sketch because it includes many of the vital elements of a park. I like how you added the suburban homes in the background, to give better contextualization of the neighborhood and the proximity of the park to the majority of the homes.

I like the idea with the picture, and how you'll have walkways around the border. That's a great idea since it makes it easier to walk around the park. In addition, it's nice that you listed one of the demographic facts from the zip code and considered that in your brainstorm.

The layout and design of the park looks great. One concern for the park though is what can be used to protect the site from outside factors. Adding fencing or another structure may be useful so the site is not too open to let objects such as trash blow around.
