Urban Farming Pocket Park: Recent activity

The animation was helpful in bringing your park to life. It was a unique way of presenting your park. I also really enjoyed the fact that you included a farmer's market area. This makes the park a central area for the community and is a unique feature that definitely separates your park from the rest of the other submissions.

This is a great design, especially for the Las Vegas area. There's plenty of shading for the patrons in the desert heat and the rendered foliage turned out incredibly good.

I really enjoyed the way you encorporated natural shading structures as well as incredible transition spaces. The thought that went into your planting areas is undeniable and I think the overall park is very well done, combining multiple elements into a cohesive, creative space.

Thank you. Since Las Vegas has such harsh sunlight it is important to provide shade if it is from trees or a structure. I also did not want to create the same old shade structure that you see in every other park. Therefore, I experimented with different shapes and forms to create something fresh - not only does it provide shade but is an interesting element such as a sculpture.

Thank You! I feel it necessary to protect the native plants to the Las Vegas area since they are slowly being overshadowed by invasive plants.

I find it very important and a great idea to add Urban Farming into your pocket park design. Not only is it something different and brings a natural beauty to the park, but it can also educate the people who visit the park.

I like that you put a lot of consideration in adding shaded areas for your park. It's especially important in Las Vegas with the amount of heat and sunlight the area receives.

The video was very well done, also your park is beautiful. There was only one thing that I thought to comment on, even though honestly, it's sort of petty. But there was a part where you had glass panels somewhere and I was wondering what the purpose of it was?

Thank you! I don't think people give enough credit to trees and plants native to the Las Vegas area, some are absolutely beautiful. When is the last time you have seen a Blue Heron in Las Vegas? Blue Heron where native birds to Las Vegas and now you rarely see one. I do not want that to happen to plants and trees native to Las Vegas. :)
