Regular Park
|The objective of this project is to design a pocket park for my community. A pocket park is generally defined as a small park that is created on a single miniscule lot of property and accessible to the general public. Basic pocket parks generally include benches, bike racks, a small playground, and/or three-dimensional art structures.
That’s all good and dandy, but there’s much more to it than that. I want my pocket park to appear appealing to all ages and races. I want the design to be diverse enough so that the younger children can run around and play, the elderly can relax and become one with the natural environment, the adults can spend time with their families or work on their physical wellbeing, and the mopey teenagers can complain and whine about their daily lives. While maintaining this diversity, I want the park to retain a certain degree of aesthetic beauty that openly invites people into its embrace.
In my experience, most pocket parks are rarely used and are simply there for looks. I want my pocket park’s design to be both useful and aesthetically appealing, so much so that it will always be filled with cheerful souls and smiling faces.

You've eloquently explained how your park design would benefit people of various ages. I appreciate how much thought you've given as to the types of activities people would do if they visited. I think there's still some opportunity to further develop your design by breaking up some of the elements, like the grass, and making it feel a bit more intimately-scaled. Overall, you did a great job of explaining your thought process.
