Elite Urban Innovators: Recent activity

In design, even though a space is meant only for storage, it should be given much thought as the human traffic flow, and the like. I do agree with the comment of Ryan, about the doors. Even if it was not meant for high human traffic, but in case there is an emergency to require additional items coming from the storage, there should be easy access and should provide an easy human traffic flow. I encountered the same issue, when I was helping out my brother-in-law in his renovation of his place at Manly, and it involved storage. As I work in the storage business, my feedback always asked and one thing that I told my brother-in-law was about the easy access to items inside the storage, i.e. ample space to move around and shift things from inside to out.

This looks great. Although I still wish you could have found some space inside the main volume to accommodate the new toilet rooms...

artificial grass!!! director of sustainability - did you look at using a native planting that could have helped with stormwater runoff? (and added cool roof benefits.)

Finally - the community garden is revealed! It looks great. Very well organized composition.

Nice work creating accessible stalls! How did you determine how many additional fixtures were required for your school?

I really like the space that this cafeteria has! It will be enough to have most of the school in there, I also really like this kitchen!

Frank, the service area appears smaller on here but it is actually larger than the original. We noticed the room for serving lunch outside was very crowded, as well as the serving inside, so we decided to make one serving area that would be much larger, therefore being easier to move around to distribute meals.

Asheeka, Our tables are not bolted down they are movable. We do have benches and table outside in the quad. Yes if people want to sit with more then 8 people then they will have to separate.
