After talking with some coaches, I've learned that turf is a big issue here at our school. With constant rainy weather during the fall, the field takes a real beating with not only the football team tearing it up during games, but the marching band who practices on it as well. The overall condition of the field has suffered in the last few years and the addition of turf would make field maintenance a lot easier. The other issue with the turf field is that as the football organization tries to stay off the grass following a game in order to keep it in good condition, they practice in the outfield of the softball and baseball field which tears up that grass as well. The varsity softball coach has said that this becomes a hassle on them as well as they are now responsible for replanting the seed in time for the spring softball season.
