While I was reading Gail Tsukiyama's book, The Samurai's Garden, I was introduced to a very unique style of Japanese garen called Zen garden. Zen garden do not use any plants, but the simplicity of it create a unique environment. Zen garden is also called Japanese rock garden and only uses rocks and gravels to represent ripples in water. Since there are not a lot of Zen gardens in California, creating a new park in Zen garden form will provide a uniqueness to the park and prevent wasting water. Instead of actually making a zen garden, I borrowed the main idea of Zen garden, which is harmony with nature.
