Westlake City Community Park

Here was my work on revit to try and bring this version of "Vesty" Park to life. However, about half way through the design of it, I decided to switch directions. When coming up with the idea for it, I loved the thought of the eating patio sitting above the rest of the park, also overlooking a pond. A park in my area has a similar setup, and the views from the patio are incredible, the majority of our school goes there every year to get prom pictures. But, I decided that I fell too in love with just the view, and the practicality of the design was not idea. First of all, although there is a hill, it is probably not usable for sledding. Overlooking a drop into a pond and very thin on either side, kids would probably not be safe using it for their winter activities. Also, the pond is not ideally accessible for winter skating. Also, the patio area should be an area for all people to gather and mingle. But since it is located high up and only accessible by stairs, some people might have a problem reaching it. So in my new design, I looked at these problems and remedied them to get a more complete final design.

What should I upload in this Develop Solutions step?
- images (JPG, GIF) of your rough digital model.
- an axonometric or perspective view of your model with people, which will help others understand the scale of your park.
It's ok if your model is still a work in progress.

I like how you didn't just stick with the first idea that came to mind, but instead, took the positives from you original idea and started looking for ways to improve. That's the real design process at work right there! The Architecture!
Overlooking a drop into a pond and very thin on either side, kids would probably not be safe using it for their winter activities. - completely agree, as pretty as the view can been, for small children it is not really safe, considering there is a playground just off site. It's always a good idea to start doing something and later it might flow into something unexpected, as long as you are moving and writing like writers per hour you have nothing to worry about!
