Architect Seven: A Re-design of Mira Loma High School’s Cafeteria

10/04/12
As the Director of Interior Decor, it is my job to represent Mira Loma High School's students through my decor. At the beginning of this project, I made sure to talk to various students on campus and understand what their vision of a "perfect" cafeteria is. As I was working on this project, I always made sure to pay attention to the feedback given to me, whether good or bad. Finally, I am proud to present what I was able to create based on the students' opinions. In the re-design on the cafeteria, I made sure to add different shapes of tables to allow the students to socialize with their friends more. I also incorporate a lot of spirit through the color scheme that I selected. The colors red, white, and blue, are very appealing to the eye which is why I thought they were great. I decided to add a few modern and new touches to the cafeteria, such as, the stage and the game room on the second floor. The bathrooms are bigger now and are designed in a way that reduces the traffic jam. Outside balcony on the second floor was much needed which is why I provided one to the students. In order to save energy as well as allow light to enter the building, I added many different windows of various shapes and sizes. In general, through out this project I focused on making the cafeteria look modern, handi-cap friendly, and eco-friendly. After getting final feedback from the students this week, I am happy with what I was able to put forward with this short amount of time. -Ikram Magzoub; Director of Interior Decor.

Great work! I like how you talked about very important aspects of your design and showed them well in your visuals but it would be so awesome if you turned on the shadows effect so that you can get a render to show the daylighting of the building.
