Arcadia Park
|Arcadia Park’s design is based upon a site situated in central Las Vegas. In respects to the design process, demographic and environmental factors played a key role. The park is designed for recreational and relaxation activities. Constructed as a business park for individuals within the close vicinity of the business area, it is meant to be an area in which individuals and groups can spend their time within the park to escape and alleviate daily stress and strains.
In order to supplement the park’s intended purpose of being an oasis for relaxation, the environmental issues of the Las Vegas climate had to be addressed. Arcadia Park holds several canopy structures in order to repress the harsh summer sunlight. In retrospect, it provides as a shade and escape from the hot Las Vegas sun.
Additionally, Arcadia Park contains several shrubs and flowers such as spirea shrubs, boxwood shrubs, and bougainvillea flowers. All of which are plants that can thrive in a drought environment. Conjointly, these shrubs and flowers are situated on contemporary planters. To match the theme, the whole pocket park uses contemporary facades and materials.
As for the topography of the site, there would be small hills around with grass on top to serve as a place for children to play around. There would be several shaded areas in which there are benches and tables for people to use.
In terms of utilities, Arcadia Park contains ADA compliant public restrooms.
Arcadia Park provides a pocket park that serves as an unwinding oasis in the middle of a residential desert.
