This shows our arcade area and how we are trying to make the cafeteria a more social area for students to gather. The paints we will use on the inside will be low-VOC, Volatile Organic Compounds, paints to reduce the intensity of the paints as well as being better on the environment.

That is a very good idea about having an arcade in the cafeteria, but will this take up a lot of space and limit the amount space for sitting?
It will also be nice to see some more photos of your sketch up from different angles and photos of your physical model.

I like the idea of having a space for students to relax or have fun; however, wouldn't the technology that would be used there consume lots of energy? how will you make the use of the energy efficient?

Jessie Marchuk- International Community Design: I think there should not be an arcade room because it will be really crowded with people, and you wouldn't have enough seating. You could use this space for something more useful than this

I think the arcade room is a very cool aspect for the cafeteria, but one question is how are you going to make the video games more energy efficient?

I don't believe having an arcade in the cafeteria is the smartest idea, but being that you do have one how will your group manage to keep kids out of there during class time? Or will it only be open during lunch and school? if so I suggest a door or gate to lock it up .

It's a nice idea to have an arcade in the cafeteria but how will you guys manage seating if it gets too crowded?

I really like the concept of adding in items, such as these, to add more of a social aspect to the area, however won't it be quite hard to to keep the area from becoming a cluster? I love your ideas though, great job.

While video games would possibly lower stress levels of the students you have to consider how the adults and staff who use the cafeteria would feel about noisy video games surrounded by even louder students. Remember most adults would not see the arcade as having a real function other than eating money and making noise. Also by having expensive machines inside the school the risk of vandalism and attempted robbery would go up so unless you plan to have a good security system I think the arcade should not be included in your design.

Thanks for all of your feedback, it really made us reconsider the arcade and we actually did decide to take it out. Its more of a burden than a benefit. In place of it we have added more furniture such as bean bags, couches and tables. For this room we are really trying to go for an at-home, calm, relaxing kind of vibe where you can just come to relax and hangout with friends.

You can make a collage of photos to show your viewers a better look of your sketch up model. Use Fotoflex on Google and it will allow you to do that

The layout of your building looks really good, also the colors used for the interior decor amazing! I would like to see how your garden will look, there isn't much detail on that.

Will the arcade room be open to the community outside of school hours. Do you have more pictures show other parts of your design.

in response to Tanya, we have decided to take the arcade room out. After we looked at all the feedback we received, we realized all the problems that an arcade would bring onto a school campus. We want to make this cafeteria enjoyable and pleasant, but we feel the arcade does not correlate well with the relaxed vibe the structure of the building gives off.
